Senior Adult Social is a fun, caring and active program designed to provide a safe place for loved ones to socialize with friendly, sensitive staff and volunteers while providing respite for caregivers. Adults who have physical, memory, hearing or vision limitations enjoy a number of activities to help maintain or improve mental and physical health and socialization. The Recreation Program Lead will facilitate Senior Adult Social program participants in planned activities, discussions and other stimulating activities and events.
This position assists in the supervision and training of part-time employees and volunteers and is directly responsible for the supervision and safety of the participants in the program. The primary duties of the Recreation Program Lead include planning, developing, coordinating, leading and supervising program activities, preparing and maintaining administrative paperwork as directed by the Recreation Coordinator/ Supervisor and providing a high level of customer service for patrons and staff. The Recreation Program Lead must be able to develop a staff and volunteer team and will be required to work independent of direct supervision. This staff member needs to be responsible and trustworthy and be able to engage appropriately with other staff, volunteers, and the public in difficult situations and times of stress. This individual must to be able to connect with and care for senior adults whose limitations are both mental and physical and empower staff and volunteers to do the same.

WORK HOURS: 20-25 hours per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
HIRING RANGE: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour (DOE)
Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in adverse weather conditions and uneven surfaces (trails, fields) depending on the program, season and location. This position may be physically demanding in setting up and taking down events and activities, including pulling, pushing, bending, stooping, sitting, walking, climbing, crawling and/or standing for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Prolonged standing, sitting, and extensive computer and telephone use may be required. The work environment is sometimes stressful in trying to meet customer needs. Employee must be able to multi-task and handle interruptions in addition to regular work load. This position also requires good listening skills.
