The City of Woodinville is looking for a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep our facilities functional and tidy by assuming responsibility for repairs and upkeep. City Hall and the Public Works Shop, among other facilities, would be your responsibility.  Join our team of dedicated public servants to help ensure a safe, attractive, and enjoyable environment for Woodinville’s citizens and employees alike.

The most qualified candidates will be able to use a variety of tools and equipment and have a working knowledge of facility maintenance and operations gained through experience and/or education.  This position is newly-created and is expected to be union-represented which offers great benefits; the City is finalizing details of the position and the relevant collective bargaining agreement.

The City offers a great benefit package along with a flexible schedule for this part-time, union-represented (Teamsters Local No. 117) position. At approximately 80 hours per month, this half-time position is fully benefitted with health, dental, vision, and life insurances/coverages, along with paid vacation leave, sick leave, and holidays.  Benefits include full coverage for spouse and dependents, with no out-of-pocket costs. Union dues are only 1.3% of gross wages.

The City’s generous retirement package also gives you more control over your money. Instead of participating in Social Security, the City participates in “Social Security In-Lieu Program” (Municipal Employees Benefit Trust) in which the City contributes an amount equivalent to 6.2% of gross wages and the employee contributes another 6.2% of their wages. In addition, the City also offers Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), which is a traditional, defined-benefit pension plan – when you meet plan requirements and retire, you are guaranteed a certain monthly income for the rest of your life. 457 accounts are also available with Roth (post-tax) and traditional (pre-tax) contributions allowed.

Woodinville, Washington is a premier tourist destination with a population of about 12,000.  Located about 20 miles northeast of Seattle, Woodinville offers the benefits of a bustling urban area against the backdrop of the picturesque Sammamish River Valley. Woodinville is known for its tourism industries with over 120 wineries, breweries, and distilleries and many opportunities for outdoor activities.

It's a great place to work and we manage to do a lot with only about 47 employees, including planning, permitting, code enforcement, street/storm water maintenance, infrastructure construction and maintenance, parks, and general administrative services. As the Facilities Maintenance Technician, you’ll have big impact on the City’s operations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will have these essential functions along with other duties as assigned:

  1. Performs daily maintenance, repairs and improvements inside and outside of City facilities.
  2. Coordinates work activities around facility maintenance services and responds to the daily needs of building users.
  3. Maintains building security when the facility is closed, or partially opened for a specific event.
  4. Reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or other conditions that could affect City staff or the public’s health, safety, and/or security.
  5. Performs routine maintenance on facility related equipment by checking fluid levels and lubricating equipment as necessary; cleans and maintains equipment; maintains equipment service records as required.
  6. Assists the Maintenance Supervisor in building and/or reorganizing work space within City facilities.
  7. Performs minor maintenance and custodial duties such as unplugging toilets, changing light bulbs, changing filters, replacing single motor belts, window cleaning, pressure washing, painting and any other minor maintenance as needed.
  8. Performs major, non-routine cleaning as part of scheduled annual cleaning cycle.
  9. Monitors supply inventories.  Ensures facility, restroom and cleaning supplies and equipment are available and properly used. 
  10. Picks up and delivers custodial and building equipment, materials, parts, and supplies as required.
  11. Assists others who may be contracted for specific custodial and building services.
  12. Assists the Maintenance Supervisor in verifying contracted services are performed correctly and meet expectations.
