Summer Day Camp Leader - City of Kirkland ( Job # 20-0007)

Would you like to get paid for playing all day? The City of Kirkland is looking for fun, motivated day camp staff to supervise children in a variety of camp activities. There will be two day camp programs at different locations, see details below.

JUNIOR CAMP - This camp will cater to the younger campers, ages 5 through 8. It will host up to 20 campers each week and will be held at the North Kirkland Community Center, 12421 103rd Ave NE (across the street from the ever popular “train park”). Time will be spent outdoors (weather permitting) playing games, enjoying the park, arts and crafts, singing camp songs, weekly local field trips and just plain old camp fun!

PETER KIRK CAMP - Our legendary day camp will return again this summer at Peter Kirk Community Center, 352 Kirkland Ave. This camp will host up to 50 campers each week and will cater to children between 7 and 11 years old. Time will be spent outdoors (weather permitting) playing games, swimming, walking to local beaches, arts and crafts, singing camp songs, weekly field trips and just about anything fun we can think up!

Day Camp Positions are available from mid June through August.  Duties of both camps are to supervise and guide children in a variety of day camp activities.

Hours of Work

Peter Kirk and Junior Day camp operates June 22nd – August 28th. Monday through Friday. Training dates will be June 18th and 19th. During camp sessions attendance is extremely necessary for all staff positions. Day camp staff are seasonal positions that support a mandatory staff to camper ratio. There is very little opportunity for scheduled days off other than Saturdays and Sundays.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification prior to start date.
  • Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act
  • Must be age 16 or older
Preferred Qualifications

One year experience working with children.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

Performs work in indoor and outdoor settings including multipurpose rooms, parks, playgrounds, beaches, the pool, and commercial recreation sites. Exposure to extended periods of direct sunlight and/or cool and damp weather is possible.
