Imagine getting paid to spend time in Kirkland’s vibrant park system.  You will be helping the Kirkland Park Maintenance Department fulfil its mission of providing clean, well-cared for parks for our community.  The City of Kirkland Parks Department is seeking people to fill more than twenty seasonal positions. 

If you are looking for a full-time seasonal job, we have openings that begin in March with a variety of schedules available.  If you have a job, but are looking for additional hours in the evening or weekends, this could be a great opportunity to make extra money, serve your community and fulfil your dream of being a groundskeeper at beautiful Lee Johnson Field in downtown Kirkland or take part in maintaining Kirkland’s beloved waterfront parks.  Whether you’re interested in working full-time or part-time, we can work together to create a schedule that works for you.

This position will perform general labor tasks and operate equipment as assigned for maintenance and/or development of the City's parks.  All assignments perform manual labor tasks using hand and power tools.  Positions may maintain park facilities and public grounds, prepare and groom ball fields, empty garbage, mow and trim grass and/or clean the City’s swimming pool. Above tasks relate to the function of preparing park sites for the opening season.

Hours of Work

40 hours/week.  Work shifts will vary and include nights and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to operate basic hand and power tools and equipment, drive a pickup, maintain a valid Washington State Drivers License, and function effectively as a team player. 

Preferred Qualifications

Previous municipal experience in Parks maintenance or landscape maintenance preferred.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather; lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; climb into and out of trenches and climb ladders.
