Police Support Associate - City of Kirkland ( Job # 20-0048)

Based on Department established priorities, performs a variety of records and clerical duties for the Police Department. Performs work involving data verification, data input, maintenance and control on a daily basis of complex and highly confidential records. Work also involves assisting in a variety of other departmental activities. Processes police reports produced by all divisions of the Police Department and other information gathered from outside entities. Processes requests and provides information to the public at the Records counter. Processes requests for concealed weapons purchase, transfers, permits and licenses, criminal history information, case reports, accident reports, and any legal requests from citizens or other criminal justice agency. Assists City Prosecutor and Court on a daily basis with reference to case reports and subpoenas, trials, arraignment calendars, hearings, and other additional contacts.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must have six months computer and/or data entry experience and be able to type and operate general office equipment. Must be able to work in a high stress environment and work closely with others. Must have good communication skills with the ability to work with the public, co-workers, and Police staff in a professional manner. Must successfully pass CVSA/polygraph, psychological, and background prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior work experience (clerical/administrative) in a law enforcement environment preferred. Municipal, county, or state government experience desirable. Criminal Justice computer systems experience preferred.

Hours of Work

Work schedule to be mutually determined upon offer of employment.     A flexible work schedule is available.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

Work is primarily performed in a typical office environment with many interruptions and distractions throughout the day. Incumbent frequently sits for extended periods of time while performing keyboard operations. Conditions are stressful at times.
