Provides recreational, educational and social service programs and services to a diverse population of the community, including youth/teens, adults, older adults and people living with disabilities.  Provides direct service and develops, implements, staffs, supervises, monitors, evaluates programs and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct service position that works closely with all age levels and abilities in providing recreational, educational and social service programs in a community center setting.
  • Experience providing a variety of sports/fitness, arts, educational, special events, after school program and day camps for a variety of age levels.
  • Knowledge of Community Center or facility operations.
  • Customer Service support including greeting and registering customers for programs (in person and on the phone).
  • Knowledge of providing safe program practices.
  • Recruits, hires, trains and evaluates partially benefitted program staff and community volunteers.
  • Recruits, develops and works closely with community alliances/partnerships to support center programs and services.
  • Ability to effectively use Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, along with CLASS software to provide administrative program support daily.
  • Ability to market programs, research and write grants, obtain program donors and sponsors to support programs and services.
  • Ability to make public presentations, prepare reports and documents as necessary.
  • Ability to create, recruit, supervise,  and monitor full cost recovery instructor contracts.
  • Order and maintain equipment and supplies for programs and services.
  • Ability to multi-task in a constantly changing environment, communicate effectively orally and in writing on different levels with internal staff as well as with the public; ability to be highly organized and complete projects to meet program timelines.
  • Ability to respond and effectively handle center incidents and emergencies while following city protocol and policies.
  • Can work a flexible schedule that will include day,  evening  and weekend shifts to accommodate center needs.


Supervision Received and Exercised

  • Works under general supervision of the Center Director.
  • Exercises supervision over contractors and partially benefitted employees as assigned.


 Education and Experience Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in recreation, human services or other related field(s).
  • Four or more years of progressively responsible related experience in recreation programming or a related area.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogens/AED; Defensive Driving.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with diverse populations, including children, youth and teens.
  • Knowledge and experience working with all of the  diverse segments of the  Of the Crossroads and greater Bellevue Community.
  • Skills in conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Experience in program coordination, including program planning, budgeting and execution.
  • Experience in supervising temporary and/or part-time staff.
  • Ability to multi-task in a constantly changing environment; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
