Lifeguard (Supp. Recreation Leader II) - City of Redmond ( Job # 13-0026)

This position is open until filled; however, preference will be given to applications received by April 29, 2013. 

Under the supervision of the Beach Front Manager and/or Assistant Beach front Manager, this position works in a team setting to:

  • Provide a safe environment for the public
  • Enforce park ordinances and swimming rules
  • Supervise swimmers
  • Provide public education on water safety to park visitors
  • Rescue persons in distress
  • Render assistance and first-aid to accident and injury victims
  • Conduct basic beach front maintenance duties
  • maintain accurate records
  • perform duties as assigned. 
  • Must enjoy working with people.

Hours and Duration:

This position will work approximately 35 - 40 hours per week; hours may vary depending on weather conditions and beach attendance. The season is June 19 to September 2, 2013. 

There will be mandatory in-service training June 7-9, 2013.

Education and Experience:

Lifeguarding experience at a pool or beach park is preferred.  Note: Senior Lifeguard status may be established based on experience.

Licenses and Requirements:

Must be a minimum of 17 years of age by June 1, 2013.   This position requires current certification in: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid and American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. The Northwest Lifeguard Test or equivalent is desirable.

Ability to work the complete lifeguard season is required.

Valid Washington State Driver's License is required by date of hire, and a driving record that meets City standards.

Working Conditions:

Outdoor recreational environment subject to noise, distractions, seasonal heat, adverse weather conditions and danger associated with aquatics setting.
