The City of Bellevue is currently seeking an Office Assistant for the South Bellevue Community Center (SBCC).  In partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue, the Community Center is “a partnership for a healthy community” and a place where people can meet, enjoy, and make improvements in how they live.  SBCC features a double gym, fitness/wellness center, dance studio, climbing wall, challenge course and community space for rentals.  At peak times, SBCC is a busy facility with a variety of activities occurring simultaneous.  The City is seeking a mature and trustworthy individual that enjoys working independently in a multifunctional environment to greet and assist to meet customer needs.  This position reports to the SBCC Manager, but works closely with the Administrative Assistant.

The days/hours required for the CSR position will be: Sundays 9am – 5pm and one, 3-4 hour weekday shift to be determined.  This is an ideal position for someone seeking part-time employment of no more than two days and about 12-15 hours per week.

 



Primary Responsibilities

  • Represent the City in a positive manner and provide quality customer service to the public.
  • Answer and route incoming calls.
  • Collect admissions fees and register patrons using CLASS registration software.
  • Handle payment transactions, which will include cash, checks, and credit cards.
  • Assume responsibility for shift reports and accountability of funds.
  • Complete reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate clearly and provide accurate information to the public.
  • Inform patrons of rules and policies of the City of Bellevue.
  • Assist with cleaning the office and other areas of the facility as assigned.
  • Report any damage, incidents and injuries using appropriate forms.
  • Work with other employees to provide safe conditions for the public.
  • Report any unsafe situations or conditions.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Attend scheduled staff trainings.
  • Adhere to safety procedure protocol and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of general office procedures and ability to use a computer (Microsoft Office Suite and Internet Explorer) and office machines (i.e. copy machine, fax, adding machine).
  • Ability to work independently and on a team in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a busy, multifunctional environment with interruptions, prioritize work; organize documentation, and coordinate and complete work assignments efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly express thoughts to others and exchange information.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Possess current First Aid/CPR certification or be willing to obtain within first 3 months of employment.
  • Must pass a Washington State Patrol criminal background check.

Definition of a 1040

There is no specific end date for employees in this status. Therefore, working in this status can be on going for as long as required by business necessity. However, employees in this status cannot work more than 1,040 hours per calendar year, from January 1 to December 31.

  • On-Going Work of the City - Hired to work a maximum of 20 hours or fewer per week on an on-going basis, as long as 1,040 hours within a 12-month period of time are not exceeded.
  • On-Call – Hired to work on a substitute or on-call basis with no guaranteed minimum hours of work, as long as 1,040 hours within a 12-month period of time are not exceeded.
  • Combination Jobs - Can be hired to fill a combination of jobs as long as 20 hours per week or 1,040 hours within a 12-month period of time are not exceeded.
  • Periods of Full Time - Can be assigned to work more than 20 hours per week up to full time on a temporary basis without transforming the assignment to a benefited position, as long 1,040 hours within a 12-month period of time are not exceeded.
  • If the employee exceeds working 1,040 hours within a 12-month period of time in any capacity described above, the employee must be off payroll until January 1 of the new year.
  • Must be hired through the Informal Selection Process.
  • At-will for the duration of the 1040 Part Time status.
