Fitness Instructor - City of Redmond ( Job # 13-0033)
Minimum Salary: $15.00 per hour
Maximum Salary: $30.00 per hour

Under the supervision of the Fitness Program Coordinator, the Fitness Instructor teaches Group Exercise Spin classes, and also possibly Pilates, Cardio, Strength Conditioning, Boot Camp, and Yoga in a professional and safe manner to the participants enrolled. Responsible for all assigned classes including being prompt, completing set up prior to class, ending class on time, and conducting clean up after class is complete. Individual should be a team player with the commitment to be flexible and accommodating.
Hours and Duration:
Hours may vary. Classes starting in the summer 0-15 hours per week, will be scheduled for afternoon, evening and weekend classes. Position is limited to a maximum of 1040 hours per year.
Knowledge of: Current fitness trends, good customer service skills, ethics, and effective teamwork.
Education and Experience:

Ability to: Be committed to providing quality programming based on our mission, vision, and values; safely manage groups of participants; learn and enforce department policies and procedures; communicate effectively and courteously with the public and City staff; proactively deal with safety and behavior concerns; follow written and verbal instructions; be receptive to critiques; promote interest and enthusiasm in related recreation activities.
High School diploma or GED. At least one (1) year experience in leading group exercise classes. Degree in kinesiology, sports medicine, or related field is desired.
Licenses and Requirements:
Valid Washington State driver's license by date of hire, and a driving record that meets City standards. Must have or obtain First Aid and CPR certification within two months of hire. ACE, AFAA, ACSM, AEA, Spin, or Zumba certification highly preferred.
Work is primarily performed in Community Center in multiple programming spaces. Instructor will be responsible for bringing their own music to be used in a portable sound system. Wireless microphone is available for use.
