Summary

Supervises and manages the daily operations of the North Bellevue Community Center and Aging Services and other community programs as defined.  Job duties involve administrative tasks, staff supervision, and facility maintenance and management. Develops, plans, implements and evaluates programs, activities and special events. Works collaboratively with other facility supervisors and managers as well as with local and regional community groups and organizations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops, plans, promotes, implements and reviews a wide range of community programs for all age groups, with an additional focus on aging programs and services.
  • Develops policies and procedures associated with facility operations and program implementation.
  • Recruits, trains and supervises program staff, including FTE, part-time, and volunteers, as well as participants, instructors and contractors involved in programs.
  • Develops program and/or facility budgets and tracks revenue and expenditures; develops pricing structure for contractor salaries and class fees.
  • Develops public relations marketing strategies, presentation and promotional materials, as well as distribution timelines.
  • Develops work plans, timelines, goals, outcomes and appropriate measures.
  • Serves as program information resource to City staff, elected officials, and local and regional citizens, particularly with regards to aging services and programs.
  • Develops, manages and supports the Bellevue Network on Aging advisory board.

 

Supervision Received and Exercised

  • Works under the general supervision of the Parks & Community Services Assistant Director.
  • Exercises supervision over program coordinators and administrative support staff, as assigned.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in the social sciences, recreation management, business or related field(s).
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible related experience in human/social services or recreation management.  Program planning and supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with the evaluation, development and delivery of aging programs and services.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Certifications vary on nature of programs supervised.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of budget development and management.
  • Skill in public speaking, negotiating and customer service.
  • Ability to relate and work with a broad and varied population.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of current research and trends related to aging programs and services.
