Farm Maintenance & Program Assistant (Supp. Rec. Leader II) - City of Redmond ( Job # 14-0005)

This position assists with basic animal care: feeding, grooming, conditioning, handling, first aid, and routine health maintenance. Cleans animal living areas: pens, stalls, and cages. Performs routine maintenance of farm, office buildings, and barnyard. Leads or assists with farm programs such as farm tours, wagon rides or pony rides. High public contact position, communicates farm and park policies and program information to public. Must relate well with children and adults and be comfortable working with animals.
Hours and Duration:
Scheduled annual hours are limited to 1040 hours per calendar year. The annual average is approximately 25 hours per week, but scheduled hours may adjust seasonally. Additional hours may be added, depending on availability and demand.
Experience working with animals is required. Experience working on a farm with livestock, and work experience in a public setting is preferred. Must have the ability to: perform outside physical work in varying weather conditions; use small tools and learn to operate a small tractor; perform basic janitorial duties; communicate effectively with the public and other staff members; follow verbal and written instruction; enforce City policies and procedures; and work in a team setting.
Licenses and Requirements:
Must have a Washington State driver's license by date of hire and have a driving record that meets City standards. Must be willing to obtain first aid and CPR certification upon hire. Must be a minimum age of 18 years of age by date of hire. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Work is performed in a farm setting and includes exposure to farm animals, and farm equipment. Working conditions include indoor and outdoor tasks in all weather conditions.
