Birthday Party Host - City of Redmond ( Job # 14-0004)

Birthday Party Host will work weekends (one or both days) and provide enthusiastic customer service to party groups of up to 30 people up to three times each weekend day during the peak season. Party Host will prepare, greet, and conduct various farm themed program activities to children ages 0-10 yrs. old and their families. Program activities may include farm tours, wagon rides, pony rides, and farm related crafts and activities. Party Host will also research, recommend, and implement craft projects for a variety of age groups. High public contact position, communicates farm and City policies and program information to public. Must relate well with children and adults and be comfortable working with animals. Equine experience preferred. Other duties may be assigned depending on experience and availability to include farm maintenance duties and entry-level children’s equestrian instruction.

Hours and Duration:

Scheduled annual hours are limited to 1040 hours per calendar year, and average 0-25 hours per week. May work additional hours in peak season, or in other program and farm maintenance capacities, depending on skill sets, availability, and demand.


Must have the ability to perform outside physical work in varying weather conditions, use small tools and learn to operate a small tractor, perform basic janitorial duties, communicate effectively with the public and other staff members, follow verbal and written instruction, enforce City policies and procedures, work in a team setting, communicate effectively and courteously with the public and City staff, proactively deal with customer service concerns, work independently to complete tasks, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Applicants are required to have basic animal handling skills, experience with children and adults in a public setting, and be able to provide excellent customer service.

Licenses and Requirements:

Must have a Washington State driver's license by date of hire and have a driving record that meets City standards. Must be willing to obtain first aid and CPR certification upon hire. Must be a minimum age of 18 years of age by date of hire. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a farm setting and includes exposure to farm animals, and farm equipment. Working conditions include indoor and outdoor tasks in all weather conditions.
