Kelsey Creek Farm is seeking individual with some livestock and farm experience to care for farm animal and assist in farm chores. This position is directly involved with taking animals to and from the barn to the pastures, cleaning stalls, small animal yards, preparing hay and grain in a public setting. There is extensive interaction with the people who visits this popular City of Bellevue Park.    


Hours: Available to work between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on various weekends (Sat/Sun) and some holidays with occasional weekdays as needed. Schedules are created on a month to month basis.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Unlocks and locks site including all animal enclosures and gates
  • Feed, groom and handle farm animals.
  • Clean stalls, pens and assorted other animal housing and equipment.
  • Record information as needed.
  • Adhere to basic safety and security standards.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations at the farm.
  • Communicate in a professional and courteous manner to all park patrons and City staff.
  • Work closely with staff to develop a cooperative, supportive and enthusiastic atmosphere.
  • Drives and maneuvers farm utility vehicle, with a valid WA state driver’s license.
  • Makes basic decisions and carries through with minimal direction from supervisor.



  • Previous experience with farm or domestic animal care beneficial.
  • Comfortable to work with large farm animals as cows and horses, smaller farm animals as goats, sheep, rabbits, poultry, ducks and geese.
  • Able to work in a farm environment around hay, grasses, dust, pollen, fur, feathers and animal feces.
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, reliable, trustworthy and willing to put forth a good effort.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Work effectively and communicate with fellow employees on any pertinent concerns or problems regarding the animal care and chores.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Prepare written reports as assigned.
  • Present a neat and profession appearance.
  • Embrace individual and group differences.
  • Ability to lead a diverse group of people.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong customer service skills, including written and oral English communication, and ability to address the public in a courteous, diplomatic, and professional manner essential.
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and make decisions independently.
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver's license by date of hire. Must have and maintain a good driving record according to Department standards. Proof required at time of interview.  Applicants will be disqualified under the following circumstances:

* Violation - more than two moving violations in the preceding three years; reckless driving violation within the preceding three years; DUI within the preceding three years.

* Accidents - more than one motor vehicle accident within the preceding three years for which the applicant received a traffic or criminal citation and was convicted, forfeited bail, or entered a plea of “guilty” or “nolo contendere”.


Physical Requirements

  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to work weekends, holidays and occasional weekdays.
  • May require strenuous activity.
  • May assist with program set up and take down.
  • The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Work will employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Employee must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment varies from rather quiet to moderately loud.
  • Ability to work with large groups of individuals


Definition of a Variable

  • Average weekly hours cannot be determined at date of hire
  • Hours may vary from week to week and are anticipated to be 28 hours per week or less
  • NOTE: Will be considered full-time and eligible for medical coverage if hours average 30 hours per week or more over a 12-month measurement period (or 130 hours per month)
