Summary

The City of Bellevue is currently seeking Lifeguard and Swim Instructors to work at the Bellevue Aquatic Center and beach parks. This position will provide patron surveillance and emergency response services.  The position will also provide swim instruction in both a group and private lesson format to various age groups.  This is a high volume facility that requires exceptional customer service skills in dealing with the public.

Hours: Morning, afternoon, and evenings and weekends (10-15 hours per week)


Primary Responsibilities
  • Enforcing facility rules to ensure a safe and fun environment.
  • Effective response to emergencies and difficult situations.
  • Providing swim lesson instruction to babies, preschoolers, youth, and adults.
  • Providing exceptional customer service.
  • Complete written reports as appropriate.
  • Light facility maintenance.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be 15 years of age.
  • Must be 16 years of age for Beach park Lifeguarding.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification.
  • ARC First Aid certification.
  • ARC CPR certification.
  • ARC AED certification.

  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing.  Vision abilities required by this job include the ability to focus for long periods of time.
  • The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
  • The ability to swim 300 yards without stopping.
  • The ability to submerge to a depth of 13 feet.

 

Definition of a Variable

  • Average weekly hours cannot be determined at date of hire.
  • Hours may vary from week to week and are anticipated to be 28 hours per week or less.
  • NOTE: Will be considered full-time and eligible for medical coverage if hours average 30 hours per week or more over a 12-month measurement period (or 130 hours per month).
