Recycling Programs Coordinator - Public Works - City of Kirkland ( Job # 14-0057)

Develop, coordinate, and implement the City's internal and external waste reduction and recycling programs. Conduct on-site waste and recycling assessments and provide technical and material assistance to property owners and managers, and tenants. Respond to and resolve customer complaints and service requests received from the public. Monitor waste reduction and recycling project and grant budgets. Develop reports and memoranda on program performance, including presentations to appropriate audiences. Represent the City at various community events to promote waste reduction and recycling programs. Promote and manage the Kirkland Green Business Program.
Hours of Work
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
This is a full-time position with benefits.
Associates degree in a related field and three (3) years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to sucessfully perform the essential duties of the job. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills. Possession of a valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to secure a reasonable transportation accommodation to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Environmental Sciences, Marketing, Communications or a related field. Two years program/project management experience in a related field. Two years experience working with businesses, property managers, students and other groups and organizations.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities
Work will be performed in an office setting and in the field. In the office, long periods of time may be spent sitting. Occasionally, work may be at a computer terminal for several hours at a time. Must be able to walk, climb, bend, and stoop to complete tasks. This position is required to attend occasional night or weekend meetings or events, as directed.
As a condition of employment, must become a member of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Union (AFSCME) within 30 days of employment or meet alternate regulations as set forth in the Agreement between the Union and the City.
