Summary
The Parks & Community Services Department is seeking an Assistant Director to provide innovation, vision and management expertise for several Community Services divisions which provide a continuum (prevention, intervention and enhancement) of programs and services. The position directs and integrates Community Services work including the following;
  • Oversees three divisions: human services; misdemeanant probation; youth, teen and family services; and recreation facilities. Manages community partnerships as assigned.
  • Develops and implements broad policies and procedures and innovative approaches to service delivery, performance measurement and financial development and control.
  • Establishes and maintains a diverse working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Recognizes the value and strength of a diverse work force and community and uses an equity and social justice lens to level the playing field.
  • Works collaboratively within the department, city and community to build positive relationships and community partnerships.  Serves as a city's representative to assigned committees and organizations.
  • Participates in or facilitates citywide committees and task forces.
