The City of Issaquah invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Events Assistant. The Parks and Recreation Department manages City of Issaquah event facilities. Under the supervision of the Events and Rental Facilities Coordinator, this position provides varied support services during rental events such as weddings, trade shows, auctions, banquets & corporate events held at any facility. The work includes, in part: opening the facility for clients, lifting and moving tables and chairs; overseeing event activities; assisting clients when needed; when in season, assisting with the weekly Saturday Issaquah Farmer's Market at Pickering Barn; and clean up before and after such events. The work is performed independently and must be carried out in a manner consistent with broad department and City goals and objectives, intermittent supervisory direction, timeline pressures and applicable City ordinances and procedures.

This position is part-time and consists of working on an "as needed" basis with hours and shifts that may vary on any given day of the week, Monday through Sunday and including evenings.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience of providing direct customer service, especially experience in the hospitality industry. 
  • Must posses a valid Washington State Driver's License with driving record free from frequent or serious violations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices and appropriate communication techniques.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting and carrying techniques.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations with event planners, attendees and co-workers.
  • Ability to use sound judgment during the independent execution of daily work activities.
  • Ability to work and solve basic problems independently.
  • Ability to coordinate actions with other departments to solve problems.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to move and lift tables and chairs weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to see with good vision or corrective lenses that provide good vision.
  • Ability to work in the outdoors in varied weather conditions.
