Mason - City of DuPont ( Job # 18-0009)

Minimum Salary: $19.82 per hour
Maximum Salary: $25.26 per hour

General Purpose
This position functions at the fully qualified journey-level. This position performs bricklaying, and cement finishing and alter, repair and maintain buildings, facilities, equipment or grounds.
This position works under the immediate supervision of the Construction & Maintenance Project Supervisor.
Supervision Exercised:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Engaged in construction and repair of street trees, tree root removal, concrete and asphalt sidewalks, concrete curbs and ramps, planting strips, grass turf, and landscape irrigation;
Constructs, maintains, and repairs concrete foundations, constructs pavements, and walks;  Prepares cement floors, sidewalks, stairs and curbing; operates power hammers and power trowels;
Operates core drills, jackhammers, diamond saws to remove concrete and other surfaces for repairs and installations of conduit, air lines, etc.;
Estimates time and materials for jobs; Pours concrete floors, walls and foundations; lays bricks and blocks as required; Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Two years' applicable work experience as a Mason. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
Valid Flagger and CPR/First Aid certificate or ability to obtain certification within six months from hire date.  Any combination of related education and experience or training that in the opinion of the city would provide the level of knowledge and abilities required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of masonry trades; safety precautions; basic computer skills. Ability to: work from blueprints, plans, and sketches; estimate time and materials needed to complete jobs; work on scaffolds.
Special Requirements:
A valid Washington State Driver's License 

Tools and Equipment Used:
Motorized vehicles and equipment including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, excavator, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps and vacuum systems, compressors, sanders, generators, grinders, concrete mixer, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches , detection devices, mobile radio and a phone. Office equipment such as computers, printers, telephone, copier, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
