Recreation Aide - Youth Basketball League - Site Lead - City of Issaquah ( Job # 18-0070)

Summary

Do you have a passion for sports and enjoy working with kids?  If so, the City of Issaquah Parks and Recreation Department is currently recruiting a dynamic, enthusiastic and responsible candidate to serve as Site Lead for the youth basketball program.  Our award winning program serves over 2,200 youth, ages 5 to 18, and requires a large scale seasonal staff for successful program implementation.  The Site Lead will be responsible for the overall supervision and success of our youth basketball satellite location.  The chosen candidate will work primarily on Saturdays, and the season runs from December 1, 2018 through March 22, 2019.


Essential Functions:
  • Open and close assigned site.
  • Oversee site throughout the day.
  • Supervise participants, coaches, parents, volunteers and other Parks and Recreation staff assigned to your site.
  • Ensure proper program procedures are followed both with regard to safety and program guidelines.
  • Referee and score keep youth basketball games.
  • Custodial tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with basketball rules and regulations.
  • Refereeing experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses & Other Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire.
  • Must pass a criminal background screen to work with children.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the game of basketball; particularly for those working with older youth.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lead referees assigned to your site.
  • Ability to assist in instructional tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work weekends, or other irregular hours as necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the public.
