As an Office Specialist within the Planning & Building Department, here's what you'll be doing:

  • Provides administrative support to the effective office operation of the Planning and Building Department
  • Prepares and distributes official hearing records including public notices, applicant letters and legal publications
  • Prepares, assembles and distributes packets for various meetings
  • Maintains records and documents such as development permit and code enforcement activities, ordinances, resolutions and contracts
  • Maintains and updates board and commission webpages with meetings and legal information
  • Publishes notices for meetings and open houses on the City's cable channel
  • Performs research projects for senior staff members
  • Provides backup and answers phones during lunch periods, breaks and absences.
  • Provides backup to the customer service desk.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or GED.  Two years of increasingly responsible administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.  Advanced computer experience.  Typing 60 words per minute.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Hours of Work

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

Work is performed in an office setting.  Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time.  Must be able to stand at copier for long periods of time.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.  Requires filing and retrieving documents via stairs in the lower level of the building.
