Pee Wee Sports Program Instructor II - City of Kirkland ( Job # 19-0007)

Summary

This position acts as the lead staff person for the Pee Wee Sports Sampler program at the North Kirkland Community Center. Works directly with the sports coordinator to produce program content. Instruct children and/or adults in a variety of levels of soccer, tball, basketball, and track. Prepare specific lesson plans and work with the coordinator to create overall goals of the program. Must have excellent customer service and organizational skills. Maintain a safe and orderly class structure. Maintain class records. Handle first aid emergencies as necessary. Program participants range from ages 2 – 5 years old.


Hours of Work

Must be available Wednesdays. Shift is from 10:45-1:15pm on Wednesdays at the North Kirkland Community Center. Programs begins in March, 2019.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must have 6 months experience working with children.
2. Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification by start date.
3. Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.
4. Must be age 18 or older.

 

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two years’ experience teaching children.

2. Sufficient knowledge and understanding of sports and the ability to teach and coach effectively.

3. Familiarity and knowledge of the Kirkland Parks & Community Services program.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

Work is performed indoors and outdoors with varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift, walk, bend, stoop, stand, and run for duration of work.
