Tennis Camp Instructor I - Multiple Positions - City of Kirkland ( Job # 19-0017)

Summary

Instruct children in a variety of levels of tennis. Assist with preparing class outlines. Coordinate class content with lead staff, coworker(s) and supervisor. Evaluate and correct skill deficiencies in students. Maintain a  safe and orderly class structure. Maintain class records. Handle first aid emergencies as necessary.


Hours of Work

Must be available Monday through Thursday and occasionally Friday from either 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for our full day program at Peter Kirk Park. Program runs from June 23 through August 23, 2019. Applicants must be available to work the majority of weeks during the program period.

Special Note

The position may work non-standard workweeks and shifts, including split shifts and evenings. This position will work at the Peter Kirk Park Tennis Courts.

Candidates may apply to both Tennis Instructor I and II positions and are encouraged to apply ASAP. While final selection will not occur until after closing, screening and interviewing may commence prior to the closing date.
 

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must have knowledge of tennis rules and play.
2. Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification by start date.
3. Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.
4. Must be age 16 or older.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching tennis to children and/or adults. Sufficient knowledge and understanding of the game of tennis to teach and coach effectively. Familiarity with the principles of  "The QuickStart” USTA Tennis Program.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

Work is performed in outdoor tennis courts with varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift, walk, bend, stoop, stand, and run for duration of work.
