Seasonal Parks & Public Works Maintenance Worker - City of Snoqualmie ( Job # 19-0004)

Summary

The City of Snoqualmie is currently hiring seasonal help for our Parks and Public Works Department.  This is a great opportunity for those seeking to build thier skills, for those who enjoy working outdoors in the fresh air or for anyone who wants to connect with their community!  These positions are temporary four (4) month, 40 hours per week seasonal positions. 

Start dates are flexible.  Work schedules may include weekends and evening hours.

 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs a variety of parks and public works maintenance activities including, but not limited to: mowing, pruning, weeding, painting, brush cutting, fertilizing and assisting maintenance personnel. 

Assists in maintenance of facilities in City parks and public works facilities, including janitorial and minor repair activities as directed.

This position is expected to operate and perform general maintenance of a variety of equipment, including but not limited to: mowers, weed trimmers, spray painting equipment and other light equipment and machinery as well as hand and power tools used in maintaining city facilities.

At times, may work alongside youth training participants and court appointed community service individuals. 

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training:  High School diploma or GED. 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

A valid Washington drivers license with a good driving record is required prior to employment. To obtain a copy of your drivers transcript go to  http://dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/requestyourrecord.html

Certified in First Aid/CPR, desirable.

Must be able to pass a Washington State Patrol background check.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance. 

Knowledge and ability to practice on the job safety practices which will minimize municipal liability. 

Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with Division Supervisors, co-workers and the public.

Ability to operate small power lawn and maintenance equipment. 

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

 

Physical Demands

Physical strength and ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor for extended periods in both indoor and outdoor parks and recreation facilities, some exposure to inclement weather, dust and noise. Person will be required to lift up to 60 lbs.
