Summary

The City of Kenmore is seeking a college student to work on planning projects within the City’s Community Development Department.  This position is eligible for approximately a 6-month internship (May through September/October) at a minimum of 16 hours/week. There is some flexibility around the daily and weekly schedule and work period.

 


Essential Duties

Project duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct research for the Urban Growth Capacity Study
  • Conduct research, analysis and prepare reports on a variety of planning policy topics
  • Assist in preparing information for the Planning Commission and Council, including preparation of maps
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications & Skills
  • Enrollment in a BA/BS or MA/MS program in planning, political science, public administration, geography, urban studies, or similar field.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 16 hours per week, May through September/October
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel and web-based programs
  • Ability to conduct independent research, compile and present results in a report format
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and Google mapping applications is a plus
Internship Benefits
  • $17.00 per hour (Does not include benefits).
