Economist/Fiscal Long Range Planner - City of Bellevue ( Job # 19-00306)

Under the general guidance of the Assistant Director, develops and coordinates the city's long-range planning initiatives.  Exercises oversight of the budget process, focusing on the long range city-wide financial planning. This position conducts research, analysis, and interprets economic and financial data and issues, is responsible for the overall financial forecasting for the City.
This position requires technical and advanced working knowledge of financial and economic analysis techniques, micro-and macro-economic theory and methodology, statistical theory and methods, and econometrics acquired through advanced education and training. A knowledge of statistical tools and advanced software techniques and ability to perform forecasting and modeling is required.
The work is performed independently and is reviewed by the Assistant Director. Work products are frequently subject to public scrutiny. Deadlines and priorities are imposed by City Council, City Manager, and/or department head. The person in this position must exercise judgment in selecting appropriate analytical methods and techniques and in the development, design and use of economic models.
Contacts include analysts, economists, fiscal managers within/outside the department, outside agencies, and the public to provide information and/or coordinate research and other work efforts.
