Summary

The City of DuPont seeks to fill the Mason position.  This position is a 3-5 years depending upon completion of project.  This position performs bricklaying; cement finishing & altering, repairing and maintaining buildings, facilities, equipment and/or grounds. The Mason functions at the fully qualified journey-level.*

To qualify as a MasonGraduation from high school or GED equivalent, two years' applicable work experience as a Mason. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis; and Valid Flagger and CPR/First Aid certificate or ability to obtain certification within six months from hire date.  Any combination of related education and experience or training that in the opinion of the city would provide the level of knowledge and abilities required.

*The City is willing to consider an in-training plan for a Grounds Maintenance Worker: An employee hired as a Grounds Maintenance Worker must successfully complete probation and an in-training work plan, to be considered for the Mason position. To qualify as a Grounds Maintenance Worker: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, and one-year experience in any occupation providing knowledge of horticulture and grounds keeping procedures.

The Mason position performs bricklaying, and cement finishing and alter, repair and maintain buildings, facilities, equipment or grounds. The Mason works under the immediate supervision of the Construction & Maintenance Project Supervisor, this position does not supervise others.

Tools and Equipment Used:

Motorized vehicles and equipment including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, excavator, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps and vacuum systems, compressors, sanders, generators, grinders, concrete mixer, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches , detection devices, mobile radio and a phone. Office equipment such as computers, printers, telephone, copier, etc.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
